Memorial Day Weekend

Cody had a four day weekend for Memorial Day- and it was definitely needed! We haven't been able to completely recover from our Texas Trip, so it was nice being able to sleep in a few days... Well, as much as an 8 month old will let you sleep in. We spent the weekend grilling and really just hanging out. We went to the Farmers Market in the area, and were greatly disappointed. I think we're going to start driving a couple extra miles to go to a different one.. Sad day!
On Memorial Day, we grilled hamburgers (Delicious!) and then headed into DC to the Air Force Memorial. The Air Force Concert Band was playing at the memorial for Memorial Day and we decided that was something we wanted to experience. I'm so glad we did! It was truly one of the best things we've done since moving up here.
The View from the Memorial: Washington Monument, Capitol Building, Pentagon, and Arlington Cemetery
We found a spot in the grass, set Cason down, and let him play. He loved crawling around and looking at all the people. He made a few new friends- like always.. Our son is so popular! He has been pulling up and even standing by himself some... I know, he is growing too fast. A few times, I caught him trying to bend down and eat the grass. It was pretty funny! Cody and I are constantly cheering and clapping for Cason whenever he does something like pull up or say 'bye bye', so whenever the crowd would clap for the band, Cason thought it was for him. He would get really excited and start flapping his arms and yelling. He was too cute! I'm glad he had just as good of a time as Momma and Daddy did!

The band is amazingly good and did such a phenomenal job. It was really a special thing to be apart of. We were surrounded by Active-Duty, Veterans, and their families - all of us together for one purpose, to pay respect to the men and women that have served/are serving our Country. The band played patriotic songs, read letters that soldiers sent home during the past wars, told stories, read famous Presidential quotes/speeches.. It was definitely special. This is something that we will attend every year that we are living in this area, and an experience we will never forget.
